Ways of professionally cleaning your carpets
The Rotary Method. This method uses shampoo that gets scrubbed onto the surface of the carpet using one large or two small brushes. This does a fair job of cleaning the carpet surface, but the deep-down dirt is either untouched or carried deeper into the pile by the shampoo.
What’s more, this method makes no provision for removal of the shampoo and dirt. The carpet must be vacuumed later.
The Steam Method. For starters, no actual steam is used, that’s really a good thing since steam would be disastrous to your good carpet. So the “steam” in question is really only hot water that is sprayed on your carpet.
In most cases, little more than half of the dirt bearing water is extracted from the carpet. The remainder is left behind which results in a soggy carpet, browning mildew, shrinkage, or damaged backing, padding and floors.
Drying time can take up to 24-hours – which is a long time for any carpet area to be unusable.
The Rotary/Bonnet Method. This method will brighten the carpet’s surface but it can’t remove the dirt deep in the pile. Results: embedded dirt works its way quickly to the surface, leaving your carpet re-soiled.
